Candle Care & Safety

Enjoy Your Candle Safely

Every A Touch of Color candle is handcrafted with care. Following these simple guidelines will help you achieve the best fragrance, an even burn, and a longer-lasting candle.

First Burn Matters

The first burn helps your candle develop an even melt pool.

Allow your candle to burn until the wax has melted evenly across most of the surface. This helps reduce tunneling and promotes an even burn throughout the candle’s life.

Trim the Wick

Before each burn:

• Trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch (6 mm).

A properly trimmed wick helps produce a cleaner flame, reduces soot, and prevents excessive flickering.

Burn Time

For the best performance:

• Burn your candle for 2–4 hours at a time.

Avoid burning longer than 4 hours continuously.

Allow the candle to cool before relighting.

Keep Away From Drafts

Burn your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from:

• Open windows
• Fans
• Air vents
• Curtains and other flammable materials

Drafts can cause uneven burning and excessive flickering.

Decorative Wax Elements

Many A Touch of Color candles feature handcrafted wax flowers, fruits, hearts, or other decorative details.

As the candle burns, these decorations will naturally melt into the wax.

Always monitor the candle while decorative elements are melting.

Stop Burning When

Discontinue use when approximately ½ inch (1.3 cm) of wax remains at the bottom of the container.

This helps prevent excessive heat transfer to the glass.

Never Leave a Burning Candle Unattended

Always:

• Keep away from children and pets.
• Never leave a burning candle unattended.
• Extinguish before leaving the room or going to sleep.

Storage

Store your candles:

• In a cool, dry place.
• Away from direct sunlight.
• With the lid on when not in use to help preserve fragrance.

Wax Melts

For wax melts:

• Use only in an approved wax warmer.
• Never add water.
• Never place wax directly on a stove or open flame.
• Allow wax to cool before removing it from the warmer.

Decorative Pillar Candles

Decorative pillar candles should always be burned on a heat-resistant candle plate or tray large enough to catch any melted wax.

Never place a pillar candle directly on furniture.
